I saw the movie today and I just have to say it was AMAZING. I’m not going to spoil it for anyone who gets to see it at the midnight screening or over the subsequent days, but it was incredible. As much as I loved the previous film, this one is even better. To me, with my two favorite characters/actors in it being Spock/Zachary and Scotty/Simon, it was a treat thanks to all of the screen time both get. Particularly Scotty since it is expected for Spock to get a lot of screen time, and… ugh I was going to say so many things but I hate getting spoiled when I go into Tumblr tags so I will keep my mouth shut for now. Just… it’s amazing! :X

On a related note, I have to say Benedict Cumberbatch was incredible, and this may not come as a surprise to his fans but it was such a nice surprise to me because I didn’t really like him before this movie. AT ALL. Through the events and interviews of the press tour I realized he is a nice guy, and with the movie I have to say he was the perfect actor for his role. Big kudos to (well, everyone but especially…) Benedict, Chris, Simon, and particularly Zachary for making me cry. A Vulcan made me so emotional. Who knew! :3

You need to read more on Julian’s case if you want to talk about it. You actually have all of your facts wrong. You claim to hate how the media laud him, yet you are using the same media (which, by the way, they do anything but approve of what he does) to get your information. I don’t even know where to start on your post and I am not about to write a novel for one of the many, many people who have their facts wrong and like to state an opinion without even knowing a thing about it. There is a reason why us Assange supporters stand by him after all this time and it has nothing to do with supporting rape (quite the contrary). If you support two women who claim rape (stealing time from the authorities when they could be investigating real cases of rape) just to fill their pockets and their political agenda, then I have to say your support for them does not do YOU favors. Read a thing or two on the case before you make such comments, preferably from a reliable source (aka not the media). Just thought I would point that out.

So let me tell you about the shittiest parent on the motherfucking planet.

I work at a grocery store and this man comes in with his 11 year old son. He buys a pack a cigarettes and a two cases of beer. The son was holding a two dollar drawing pad and placed it on the belt and I guess the dad didn’t notice it at first but when I was about to scan the pad he asked where’d it have come from and turned towards the kid and asked “Did you put that shit up there?”. He told me to put it back and then told his 11 year old child that he “ain’t paying for that gay ass notebook.”. So I looked at the kid, who was close to tears and saying how he ran out of paper at home and my heart broke. So I gave the pad to him, for free, and told the dad I would take care of it. I gave the kid some tokens for a game outside and said I would look forward to buying some of his drawings and paintings when he’s all famous. He kids face was so priceless and I thought everything was good. But then, about 10 ten minutes after giving the kid his notebook, I walked outside and saw this. The drawing pad all ripped up and tossed on the pavement. I could only imagine what happened in the parking lot, but I know that that poor kid heart is fucking ripped apart, just like this pad.

I’m fucking horrified that there are parents like this, who, just because it’s not masculine or gender specificthey won’t let their children follow their true passions or explore interests that lead to their happiness. Even more so, I’m horrified that parents don’t care about the fine arts anymore because it doesn’t have job security. Since when did it ever matter to a child if their passion makes them money or not? Parenting is about supporting whatever makes your child happy. Have some fucking consideration for your child’s wants not your homophobic and anti-art ideals.

And let me tell you why, thirteen-year-old on my dash.

Leonardo DiCaprio consistently chooses (and has consistently chosen) high caliber projects and does his job as an actor pretty astoundingly well every damn time. He appears “desperate” to you because you now associate his otherwise incredible performances with Oscar clips because that is typically the quality of his output, and you’re now judging that output through a lens which has been decided for you by the Academy, which is to say, one that tells you He Historically Will Not Get The Thing, to which you wrongfully assume his attempts are then rendered Pathetic. You see here wherein lies the problem (hint: it’s mostly you.)

So yes, it’s going to seem like he is desperate for an Oscar when really, he’s just being Miley and doing the same damn thing he always does: Crushing It. Leonardo DiCaprio does his own thing. He set the bar that high at a very young age and he aims for it every time. So if you’re looking for some variety, no, you won’t be seeing him cameo in a horror spoof, or captaining a rom-com. That’s not his game. Leo’s game is quality and respect for the craft. To be honest, I hope he never gets that Oscar. At this point, it doesn’t deserve him.

I have been watching the Oscars literally before many of the young girls on Tumblr were even born, and to Jessica Chastain’s fans I want to say: keep on loving her so much, I know I do. We will see A LOT of her in the future and many more nominations to come. Actors who win merely based on the hype of a movie, such as Jennifer Lawrence, disappear forever in a couple of years. It’s happened before and it will happen again. However, for Jessica it is only the beginning.
